It can be exciting and yes… there’s money to be made or at least preserved as a hedge against inflation. But let’s be honest: the crypto world is a minefield, and you need to protect yourself.
My Crypto Journey
Let me introduce myself. I’m Pam. I first heard about Bitcoin when it was just launched. I was instantly intrigued. I’m not a tech nerd and had no clue how to buy it. I even tried searching for it on Yahoo (yes, really), but didn’t get far.
In 2017, I finally bought my first Bitcoin—and fell straight down the crypto rabbit hole. Learning how to use exchanges, convert my money into crypto, and understand the lingo was overwhelming at first. With 21 years of experience at Holland Casino, the gambler in me couldn’t resist altcoins. Some paid off. Some didn’t. But Bitcoin kept rising, and the bull market was thrilling.
But where there’s a bull, there’s eventually a bear. Watching my portfolio drop by 80% was painful. I shut my laptop and buried my head in the sand. I moved to Portugal and began enjoying life. In 2020, rumors of a bull market brought me back to my laptop—and my assets were climbing. It was bittersweet. Some coins had vanished. I lost funds on an exchange that went bust (RIP Cryptopia).
Lesson learned:
Don’t leave your crypto on an exchange unless you’re actively trading.
Then came COVID. Markets dipped again. I rode the rollercoaster of the crypto space: DeFi exploded, meme coins surged, and Bitcoin kept climbing. Between 2020 and 2024, I tried day trading, swing trading, even leverage. I found I’m more of a swing trader. I followed many crypto YouTubers—some I still enjoy, others I’ve moved on from.
Before the next downturn, I converted some assets to stablecoins. But I miscalculated. Money got tight. Friends and family told me to sell. I didn’t. I got a job instead.
And Here We Are in 2025
Bitcoin’s doing great (though alt season hasn’t kicked off yet). I’m still working, and I love it—it gives me purpose. But I also made a decision: to follow my passion and launch MasterCryptoSafety.
Over the years, I’ve noticed people are curious about crypto but scared of the risks. Rightly so! This space is full of threats—hackers, phishing attacks, Ponzi schemes, shady ICOs, failing exchanges. It’s overwhelming.
But I believe in blockchain, Bitcoin, and DeFi. Mass adoption is coming—there’s no turning back. Whether you jump in now or later, chances are you’ll own some crypto eventually.
👉 With crypto comes responsibility. Scammers follow the money. That’s why the most important thing is keeping your crypto safe. The space evolves rapidly. What’s new today is outdated tomorrow. Being your own bank means staying up to date with the latest in security.
